“Thirty years – it seems like it was just yesterday when we moored the first Trader 39 at the 1979 Southampton Boat Show. It was certainly an anxious week, introducing a new style of cruising to the market. The many benefits of the semi-displacement Trader hull design may seem even more pertinent now than 30 years ago in the face of the erratic fuel market and greater environmental concerns.

The values of craftsmanship and ‘home from home’ comfort that we have instilled into our modern Generation II Traders were also present back in 1979, and it is because of these that so many older Traders are still going strong, giving their owners pleasure and preserving their values in the market. In fact, there are more than 500 of them, cruising waters all over the world.

Of course, the big event in this anniversary year is the launch of our new Sprint high performance weekend cruiser. Despite its performance and radical Zeus drive-train, the Sprint is a true Trader and has been designed with the same traditional, practical values and exceptional sea-keeping.
